WHO WE ARE
Hi I’m Missy
Who am I? I always hate this question. It can be so shallow that no one really knows who I am or so deep that no one really cares. I will try to give you the abridged up-to-your-waist version instead of ankle deep or over your head explanation (if that makes sense).
I am a Southern West Virginia girl at heart–born on the border between West Virginia and Virginia and raised in the valleys of McDowell County where coal dust covered everything, and you had to look straight up to see the sun. I am the daughter of a Methodist preacher, so I’ve spent hours, maybe even weeks if you count them all together, under church pews and at Sunday school picnics. I am the wife of the best man God ever put on the planet. I still don’t know why he chose me, but that’s for another time and place. I am the mother of 3 beautiful children who are beginning to create new lives for themselves separate from this heart (that’s me) that loves them to the ends of eternity (and you can never reach that spot)! I am the teacher of more students than I can count over the last 25 years. I’ve taught diagramming sentences, understanding symbolism, writing term papers, and the meaning of a Scarlet A within and without. I am a follower of Christ above all else–a daughter of the Most High. I am a chosen treasure, a royal priesthood, and His poetry. It is this identity that spurs me to write. This is the reason you are reading this page because I have a calling . And more importantly, because you have a calling, a purpose and an identity. Let’s dive in, join the circle, and follow Him together!
